Kylie Jenner may be best known for her beauty (the changing hair and full lips), but her style is just as dynamic

Kylie Jenner is a fashion icon. There is no debating that. Whether or not she is a fashion mogul is yet to be ascertained. The American model and entrepreneur rose to fame after starring in popular reality television series, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians". She was barely ten years old in 2007 when she debuted on the show and become the youngest to make it to the 2017 Forbes 100 Earnings for Celebrities. Kylie Jenner is one of the most followed social media personality with more than a hundred million followers on Instagram. She is a model, socialite and has her own spinoff show on E! called "Life of Kylie".

Kylie Jenner and her sister Kendall Jenner teamed up with PacSun and launched a clothing brand in 2012. They called it Kendall & Kylie. Three years later, Kylie Jenner rolled out her own line of cosmetics, branded as Kylie Cosmetics. She has a mobile app that is available on Android and iOS. The Kylie Jenner app, which primarily tracks her life and she shares tips on beauty and hair, had once reached the numero uno position among all apps downloaded from iTunes App Store. Both Kylie and Kendall have been phenomenally influential among teenagers, not just in the United States but in many countries around the world, while both were teenagers themselves. Time Magazine had included both of them in the list of most influential teenagers in 2014 and in 2015.

"Kendall & Kylie" and "Kylie Cosmetics"

The net worth of Kylie Jenner is reportedly around fifty million dollars. This is according to the latest estimate published by Forbes. The last yearly income of Kylie published by Forbes is for 2016 and it is reportedly eighteen million dollars. It suffices to say that Kylie Jenner is rich and a lot of her wealth has been generated in recent years, especially after her social media following skyrocketed and she started endorsing various top brands. This is where one has to question if she is yet to become a fashion mogul, for not a major chunk of her earnings are from her brand of clothing and cosmetics, despite the stunning popularity of both the brands, Kendall & Kylie and Kylie Cosmetics.

According to Forbes, Kylie Jenner did make a substantial amount of money from her line of Kylie Cosmetics, especially from the makeup line. Lip Kits in particular were very popular and the products sold out in minutes of being launched online. The blushes, eye palettes, highlighters and other cosmetics are yet to be made available at brick and mortar stores, albeit Jenner has publicly stated her plans to venture into retail. Kylie Cosmetics reportedly generated four hundred and twenty million dollars in sales over the eighteen months it has been in business. Many experts expect the brand to clock a billion dollars in sales by the year 2022.

While the sales are impressive and the popularity is definitely unshakeable, Kylie Jenner herself has earned most of her fortune or net worth from the hit reality television series, including the spinoff show of her own, and from a multitude of endorsements of which most are on social media where she influences her followers to pick the brands she works as an ambassador for. According to Forbes and many other media reports, Kylie Jenner has made as much as forty one million dollars from her various endorsements. This implies she made less than a fifth and perhaps much less than that of her net worth from her clothing and cosmetics brands.

There is an irrefutable fact that Kylie Jenner and her sister has collaborated with strategic partners such as PacSun for the clothing and Topshop for the lingerie line. They have also worked with many individuals and smaller brands to develop their own lines of clothing and cosmetics. Too many partners in any deal will result in diminishing returns for anyone, even if it is an eponymous brand. It would not be wrong to infer that Kylie Jenner is yet to become a fashion mogul. She is probably en route to become one but it may take a few years for the twenty years old to scale to the acme. For now, she is celebrating the birth of her daughter Stormi Webster with Travis Scott.

The Roadblocks to becoming a Fashion Mogul

Kylie Jenner has had her share of legal and perception battles over the years, regardless of the innumerable people anticipating the launch of her new clothing collections and cosmetics. She lost a legal battle against Kylie Minogue for the trademark of "Kylie". Vlada Haggarty, a professional makeup artist, had accused Kylie Jenner of stealing her ideas, creative aesthetics and styles. Kylie Jenner was compelled to give her credit on social media and she also paid an undisclosed amount to settle any potential lawsuits. There have been many such controversies, such as British painter Sara Hope filing a lawsuit against Jenner for the neon lip logo. The fundamental difference between a fashion icon and a fashion mogul is that the latter requires one to create new & original styles and set trends, rather than just emulating trends and sporting what is in vogue.
